She got the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree in 2014 from the University of Minnesota. She is an Obstetric Certified RN and with her retirement in 2017, she works as an on-line education coach for major universities offering nursing education in the USA. She is a Fellow of the West African College of Nursing and a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.

Dr. Mbibi is a contributor to many nursing journals. She has mentored quite a number of nurses, and received numerous awards including the Humanitarian Award of NANNNA (National Association of Nigerian Nurses in North America), Dee and Gordon Sprenger Education Scholarship by the Abbott Northwestern Hospital Foundation and the Sandra R. Edwardson Award for Excellence. Her passion for advocacy was the driving force behind her DNP project, which aimed to reduce deaths due to deep vein thrombosis among mothers on bed rest. Her second publication was in 2016: Mbibi, N. F. & Monsen, K. A. (2016). Prevention of deep vein thrombosis in pregnant mothers on prolonged bedrest:  Evidence-based system change in the mother-baby unit (http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.kontakt.2016.07.003). Her first co-authored publication was in 2014, titled: Schaffer, M. A. & Mbibi, N. F. (2014). Public health nurse mentorship of pregnant and parenting teens. Public Health Nursing, 31, 428–437 (doi: 10.1111/phn.12109).

Dr. Mbibi has a passion for organizing nurses for different causes, and she has consistently addressed critical needs of nurses and care quality challenges through seminal leadership. She was the 2016 NANNNA National President, and the immediate past chairperson of NANNNA’s domestic violence committee that seeks to address the complex issues of domestic violence which is prevalent in some Nigerian cultures and affects Nigerian women including emigrant nurses. She is the founder of Association of Nigerian Nurses in Minnesota (ANNIM), and the past Vice President of University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital ALUMNI, USA.

Dr. Mbibi’s passion to save lives remains unparalleled. Her involvement in grass root community engagement to care for the underserved, began with records of untimely death within family members from preventable causes. This has taken her to several villages and communities in Nigeria where health education is stressed, medication and health assessments are provided, capacity building of health care workers is developed and community welfare monitored for compliance. To sustain these programs, she founded a non-profit organization, Florence Fountains International. Adopted communities and their environs are empowered and supported through this organization. Through her vision, and in line with the NANNNA health mission initiative, Dr. Mbibi established a healthcare center in Ogbuebulle community, Ikwuano LGA of Abia state, Nigeria in collaboration with NANNNA and ANNIM, the two NGOs she helped found. Today Ogbuebulle boasts of a functional healthcare centre that is well secured, staffed and stocked with drugs. For this and other intervention acts, she is considered by the community as one of the heroines of our land.

In August 2024, Dr. Mbibi was honored with the Ebuleukwu Distinguished Platinum Award by the global body of Ogbuebulle Community Development. This is in recognition of her outstanding contributions towards the development of her maiden home, especially in the provision of healthcare for the underserved.

She is currently renovating the Ndoro Maternity Center in Ndoro Village of Ikwuano to ensure that expecting mothers receive adequate care in a decent environment. This project is funded by Health Carousel Foundation and Florence Fountains International and is supported by NANNNA. NANNNA has adopted and renovated several health centers in different states of Nigeria.
